Baxter, James Phinney, 1893-1975

Baxter received his Ph.D.from Harvard in 1926 and taught history there for 12 years (1925-1937). He was a student, friend, and colleague of American historian and Harvard professor Edward Channing (1856-1931). Baxter went on to become the 10th president of Williams College (1937-1961).
